The Enfield Enforcer was a 7.62x51 sniper rifle developed at the RSAF Enfield specifically for police use from the military L39A1 target rifle. At the behest of the Home Office a new version was developed, featuring a high-combed 'Monte-Carlo' butt, heavy free-floating barrel, Parker-Hale target sights, 7.62x51 10rnd mag and Pecar Berlin 4-10 scope.The resulting rifle, known as the Enforcer, was adopted for police service in 1974. The Enforcer Sniper rifles are MUCH rarer than No4Ts & L42A1s rifles because of the small quantities manufactured (767). Of the 767 manufactured, 518 were supplied to UK Police Forces and approx 50% of these were destroyed, 99 were exported to Thailand, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong & Kuwait. 16 were destroyed during manufacture or during testing, 134 were not assembled. Only a few original Enforcers were surplused in the late 1990s,the rest approximately 50% were destroyed by the individual Police Forces :-( The Enforcer represents a transitional period in British firearms history—bridging the gap between traditional bolt-action service rifles and the emergence of modern precision rifles for law enforcement. Today,surviving examples are highly sought after by collectors and historians for their craftsmanship and unique role in British and Commonwealth policing history. This Enforcer is all original, no import markings,a superbly desirable 1970's British police sniper rifle rarely encountered in AUS.
