This is a rare Mauser model 45, not the French MAS version, some had a parkerised finish others blue, the bore is great, and finish about 90% the woodwork shows signs of being used but there are no cracks or chips. These rifles were made after the French occupied the Mauser factory in April 1945. Finding most of the tools and machines in working order, they had Mauser produce the Model 45 for the French military as they did not have a "proper" training rifle yet. Using Mauser KKW action and other components, about 10,000 of the Model 45's were made before the Mauser buildings were demolished in 1946. The equipment was then relocated to St. Etienne where another 30,000 were manufactured.
