PERCUSSION REVOLVER: 44 cal; 6 shot cylinder; 6” (154mm) round barrel; bore is exceptionally fine, crisp rifling, almost certainly unfired; metalwork retains 30% of its original blued finish, majority on the frame; plum patina to back of frame, straps, barrel & cylinder, some traces of finish left in protected areas; g. case colours to areas of loading lever & hammer; some handling marks to metalwork & cylinder stop drag; lhs of frame marked STARR. ARMS. Co. NEW. YORK., rhs of frame marked STARR'S PATENT JAN. 15, 1856.; serial no. 20111 marked to front of frame & cylinder; mixture of B, F, L & W inspectors marks to several parts; all marking are crisp, as are profiles; screw heads g.; dovetailed front blade sight & hammer notch rear; mechanically exc., indexing correctly, strong springs & sears; single piece smooth walnut grip presents exc. with only a few minor handling marks; lhs of grip marked with small D to top & LAR inspector cartouche, rhs of grip marked with clear EF cartouche to bottom & what appears to be RRW cartouche to top; overall in exc. wo & g. to vg. cond.
