This is something that you don't see every day. A Weatherby Imperial rifle scope in its original box with lens covers. The Imperial range was made in West Germany by Hertel & Reuss between the years of 1954 and 1973. This example appears to be a later model (1970's), as it has a 1" tube diameter rather than 26mm. Not to be confused with the Premier, Supreme, Sightmaster or Mark XXII scopes, which were all made in Japan. The 6x62 designation is based upon 6 power being the actual magnification and 62 being the Brightness/Luminosity factor. The actual objective lens diameter is around 47mm. This is the same way Pecar Berlin designated its earlier production scopes, such as 6x59, 4x81 etc. Performance numbers are approximately as follows: Exit Puil: 7.88mm Twighlight Factor: 16.85 Luminosity: 62.09 Scope presents in very good condition, with just a few minor ring marks. Has the standard cross hair reticle. Lenses are pretty much unmarked and scope is clear and bright. There appears to be no fungal growth or debris within the scope. Reticle is clear and without distortion or fuzz. This is a reticle moving scope, not image moving. The two top mounted turrets perform various functions. The rear turret is the reticle focus adjustment. The front turret adjusts both elevation (via the outer knurled dial) and windage (via the inner coin slot dial). It's a very neat and interesting system. This would make a great inclusion on a period Weatherby rifle, especially a German made variant. Scope appears to be Aluminium Alloy and is relatively light weight. Has plenty of tube length to allow mounting on the longest of rifle actions. Price is delivered to purchaser.
