Cased Civil War era Colt 1861 Navy pistol 36 BP serial 18817 Made in 1864, during the American Civil War. Address on the barrel “- Address Col. Sam’l Colt New-York US America-” All numbers match except for the original Colt wedge. The screw holding the wedge in is a replacement. Good Texas Naval scene clearly visible; but somewhat discoloured. Has 7 ½ inch barrel; cylinder is 6 round capacity. Brass grip strap, no silver plating. Good rifling but pitted which is par for the course. Small chip from front R grip. A total of only 38843 were made. Contained in a very early period case. The bullet mould has a number 8817 and initials NBA stamped on it and at the rear of the case base, the same marking of NBA appears. Empty Eley primer tin. Some projectiles. The flask is correct for the period but not makers named. The nipple wrench/take down tool is not original. Considering its age, this should not be fired. Action functions correctly.
