This is a great ex military gun with an amazing history. I have also used it to bag a lot of feral pigs and deer and the recoil is mild enough that I have taught my sons to hunt with it as well over the 25 years I have owned it. Its a 1914 manufacture in 44-40 calibre and from the stampings on it, was part of a shipment of 4000 made in 1915 from the Remington factory to the UK via Canada to avoid messing around with the USA's neutrality. They were issued to Royal Naval Craft and even early combat aircraft. Another survivor of the shipment is in the Imperial War Museum where they actually claim to have the only survivor. Well that's not quite true as here is another and a bit of googling finds others too. Regardless, its a rare find. https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30035259 There is also a great video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL2KEbu4Y-Y&ab_channel=CRsenal Its marked with a C for Canada and a Broad Arrow as well as Dominion of Canada proof marks, and rack number. The serial number of late 1914 manufacture concurs with the shipment date of 1915. Most of the original bluing is intact. Has some very minor pits and browning in places where the blue has rubbed off. Action is smooth and loads and fires without issue. Barrel is excellent. When I obtained it it was minus the original stock and I spent 25 years looking for one until I gave up and fitted a repro model 14 walnut one which is lightly finished in tru oil and a Remington UMC plate. The rear sight is also a flip down instead of the original leaf type. Happy of course to send pics etc.
