A great collectors piece. The sale includes a hard to find Israeli built M49 Bayonet and an Israeli marked leather sling. The action of the rifle is tight and the trigger crisp. The barrel is clean & bright with plenty of rifling left. This rifle was produced in 1943 at the Gustloff Werkes in the Weinmar region of Germany. The barrel made by Mauser Werke AG in Obendorf in 1934. German Waffenamt proofs are still present as well as a half struck Israeli Star of David on the receiver just above the serial number. The usual 7.62 is stamped into the receiver & barrel as well as on the bottom of the butt. Unusually both the bolt and receiver have matching serial numbers, the rest of the parts with serials are mixed as was usual as these rifles were usually put together from a mass of parts out of a barrel. The Mk.1A or M49 Israeli bayonet is marked on both the blade and scabbard with "Bayonet Mk. 1A Manufacturer 101.1949" in Hebrew with the Hebrew letter Tsadi in a circle which was used as a government property mark. Both bayonet and scabbard are marked with the Star of David. The rifle shoots well and would be great for use in either service rifle matches or as a collectors piece.
