Lee-Enfield No4 Mk1, ROFM 1941, Serial Number B18596, in very good condition, presents as nearly new, fully refurbished with a brand-new barrel, strong sharp rifling and a shiny bore, rated +7/10. In an attempt to eliminate the wandering zero syndrome peculiar to the No 5 rifle a stronger No4 Mk 1 receiver was selected (Lithgow crack checked, stamped and CAS in circle) to eliminate action flex and stretch associated with the structurally weaker No5 receiver. This No4 receiver rifle was gun-smithed by T-Bone using the woodwork, furniture, sights and trigger guard from a BSA No5 Mk 1 “Jungle Carbine” that had a completely U/S barrel. T-Bone removed the old rusted barrel, cleaned, re-polished and re-blued all metal work, provided a new Walther 303 barrel, docking it to 21-1/2”, crowned and profiled to accept the original flash eliminator, chambered, indexed and head-spaced before screwing it into the No4 receiver to replicate the Jungle Carbine profile. An excellent job of work. Only 12 rounds of commercial (PMC) 303 ammo were fired, the owner did not like the muzzle blast from the short barrel and placed it in the gun-safe and not fired again. Should there be a need to restore this rifle to true No5 specifications, the original No5 Mk1 receiver (M47C 1945, serial #BD9992) is available as a separate item, details provided on request. Selling well below refurbishment and parts cost. $2,500.00 - includes packaging, freight by Startrack and insurance.
