Beautiful old Winchester 1873 manufactured in 1889. Has been re browned at some stage in its life and that brown finish is thinning in places. Clear address stamp to barrel and calibre mark to brass carrier. Loads, shoots and ejects. Very heavy round barrel, half magazine, and for some reason a rear sight that looks to be off a Martini-Henry rifle. There is no dovetail cut in the original barrel however to take a buckhorn sight (Was it a special order? I don’t know?). I looks to have been with the rifle for a very long time. There is a hairline crack in the buttstock starting at the rear of the top tang but this is very solid and there is no movement. The bore is pretty good for the age with well defined rifling and only minor frosting. Retains dust cover which fits and slides well with no wiggle. Strong main spring. Screw heads show only very minor marring in places. Text or email only please as no phone coverage at house. More photos available by email. Transfer and postage $75 Australia Wide except WA. A classic old heavy barrelled Winchester ‘73 that’s 134 years young!
