Extremely rare Mauser 77 full wood rifle, in near new condition, these do not come up for sale in a standard rifle, let alone a fullwood rifle. I have seen one in my life and this is it, they have a superb action and like most Mausers, became too expensive to manufacture, whilst other mass produced rifles became more popular, mostly through cost. It has a short throw 60 degree bolt and the Mauser 77 use's three nice big locking lugs. It is an action with that “shutting the bank vault door” feel about it. Solid, beautifully made, and dependable. At the rear of the bolt on the bolt shroud is the safety catch. This was the same to operate as the safety on the Mauser 66; it has a push vertically forward action and has a small locking tab that needed to be depressed before it can be pushed forward into the fire position. To the rear of the safety on the right side of the tang is another small button. This is to activate the set trigger if a light trigger for a precise shot is needed. The button simply needs to be pushed forwards once, it will spring back when released and the trigger is set to a very light pull. If the shooter change's their mind and wants to unset the trigger, then one simply engages the safety catch, and then press the trigger to unset the mechanism. Simple, convenient and safe.
