Owen & Walker S x S shotgun retailed by H. Abrahams of Melbourne for the 1888 Melbourne exhibition. 12G with 30” damascus barrels, 2 1/2” chambers and choked approx. 1/2 & 3/4. Bores are bright & shiny with some fine scattered surface pitting, free from bulges. Strong browned finish to barrels with excellent pattern definition. Action has been professionally re-tightened, bar action rebounding locks are strong. Action, hammers & tangs have heavy coverage of scrolls engraving, game scenes to both locks & hound engraved to trigger guard. Top rib has "Made expressly for the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition. 1888 & 1889. For H. Abrams & Co 182 & 184 Elizabeth St Melbourne" inlaid in gold. Owen & Walker is engraved to both lockplates. Birmingham proofs to barrel flats & action tables. Woodwork is in very good condition with sharp chequering to bag grip & forend. Stock & forend free from cracks & repairs, only minor handling marks overall. 14 1/2" LOP & 6lb 9oz weight. Has been only used a handful of times in the past few years at Vintage shoots and now just collecting dust in the safe.
