A good Essex Island 1911 pistol is 45 ACP. The frames of these pistols were manufactured in limited numbers by Essex Island and they were generally fitted out with Colt top ends which this pistol has. Doesn't appear to have been shot a great deal but has lost some of it's original bluing on the slide. Would make great pistol for classic shooting and much cheaper than the complete colt.
