Unfired, still in grease with a bayonet. This is an unfired FTR (factory refurbished) 1941 Lithgow with a brand new bayonet into the bargain. A very rare find these days! We bought it from the now retired solider who bought from Army stores when he left the Army in Darwin many decades ago. He unwrapped it from its grease paper packing but never fully cleaned off the grease and never fired it. The grease is still visible in the barrel. We have not cleaned it up any further, preferring to keep it preserved as is. This is definitely a collector's item. Matching receiver and bolt numbers; no numbers stamped on the rear sight or fore-end cap. The bolt face is unmarked; the magazine shows no signs of use; the rear sight has no noticeable wear from use. Everything is in superb FTR condition, as you can see in the photos (see more on mudgeefirearms.com.au). Interestingly, the receiver has the slot for a magazine cutoff that was seemingly never fitted; it looks like it may have been made many years earlier than 1941 but not made into a rifle until then, when it was finally stamped. This rifle is a great opportunity to add to or start your collection of Australian military firearms. It will not last at this price.
