Here we have a truly unique piece that is a true testament to German craftsmanship.

This is a rare and absolutely beautiful German crossover break-action hunting rifle chambered in 11mm Mauser.

This rifle was skilfully crafted by Gustav Adolf Störmer, a gunmaker highly regarded for his craftsmanship and intricate designs. This particular example was made for a gentleman who was right-handed but left-eye dominant, so the rifle was made in a way that would allow him to use his left eye while still operating it with his right hand.

The rifle presents in very good condition. The metalwork is free from any rust and maintains a wonderful patina that covers the majority of the barrel. The action presents in excellent condition, with heavily engraved game scenes and patterns present on both sides, all of which have been done by hand. This alone would have taken weeks, if not months, to complete. The barrel is in excellent condition and is clean and free of any rust or pitting. The operation is smooth and the action is tight, while the hammer and adjustable twin-set triggers are beautifully crisp. The sights consist of a two-position, safari-style rear flip-up notch sight and a low-profile blade sight.

The original walnut stock is in good condition, though it has the typical bumps and bruises expected for a piece of this age. The grip is elegantly carved, though I am not sure whether it is made of mahogany or horn. The checkering is in good condition and remains sharp.

All in all, this would make a spectacular wall or conversation piece, or a wonderful addition to your collection. They simply do not make them like they used to, and this is certainly a beautiful example of just that.
