Japanese Type 38 Carbine – MUM Intact - Matching Numbers

Based on Serial Number appears to be pre-war produced in the Nagoya Arsnel between - 1933 – 1940

The elongated M on underside of barrel indicates it was issued to a military reserve unit and most likely saw action in the Pacific Theatre.

I purchased this rifle a number of years ago with broken fore-end swivel, no cleaning rod, broken front retaining spring, replaced modern tang screw and with some timber rot at the stock fore-end.

Over the years I have managed to find and replace all of the above with genuine Type 38 Carbine parts with the fore-end timber restored by T-Bone Shipwriting who specialise in WW2 service rifle repairs.

This piece of history now presents as all original and complete in shootable condition.

I have had this rifle to range twice and shoots as well as can be expected for a carbine of its age, I would rate the barrel as 6/10.

I reload and shoot all of my WW2 carbine collection, however have not done a load development for this rifle as yet.

Only selling due to being in NSW and having to thin out the collection to meet the ridiculous new firearm number limits.
