Lithgow SMLE No1 MK3.(Please read)
Dated 1941. And is a ex Geelong grammar school cadet rifle via markings on the buttstock. Timber is in excellent condition with usual marks and dings with a used rifle of this age. Metalwork is in excellent condition with no pitting or rust except the magazine has some light rust on the exposed part.bore is excellent with profound rifling.Receiver has been drilled and tapped with a scope mount. Fitted is a heinsolt 2.5x post reticle scope that is crystal clear and functions excellent.
The only problem is that the bolt is non matching and the extractor claw has a small chip in it. Unfortunately some Muppet in the past has installed the wrong screw that holds the extractor claw and applied some form of loctite,and as a result can't be removed without causing possible damage. A New bolt head maybe required which can be found for about 35. I have a new extractor claw and spring which is included.
The rifle still functions and fires safely and as should. I paid 800 for the rifle 2 months ago as a backup rifle and to shoot scoped service rifle events. This rifle would be listed as good but the bolthead does need attention.buyer to pay postage and transfer fees.
