Keen (ok tragic) collector of British Empire/Commonwealth military trainers (in .22LR) thinning out his collection.
Looking for someone who is keen to help preserve military history from possible destruction under new and uncertain firearms restrictions.
Have too many No 8’s.
Matching serial numbers on receiver, bolt and underside of front stock.
Condition - Very good. I never say excellent.
Barrel - Bright, shiny bore.
Sling included.
Shoots well, even with my old fading short sighted eyes.
History - The Rifle, Number 8 (commonly referred to as the "Number 8 Rifle" or the "Number 8 Cadet Rifle") is a bolt action, .22LR version of the Lee Enfield designed for British Army target shooting. They are simple single-shot, hand-fed cadet rifles and were originally designed to be used by military marksmen. The Number 8 is no longer used by the British cadet services as a basic target rifle, replaced by the L144 and air rifles. Some examples are in civilian ownership worldwide.
