Comment: This No1 Mk3 rifle was manufactured at Lithgow in 1942 and used by the Australian Army. It has been upgraded to a marksmans rifle with the addition of a heavy Motty barrel in 1956 and has markings to show it was ultimately sold off to the public as a serviceable rifle after completing its military service. The bore and headspace are good and the receiver, bolt and nosecap numbers all match. The bolt is fitted with the early cocking piece which allows easier manual cocking when required. The original markings on the stock are visible and the rifle performed very well when test fired. The woodwork is sound with no cracking but there are the normal dings and scratches associated with military service. An excellent rifle for the collector or military rifle shooter.
