LOT.320 - RARE LOW SERIAL NUMBER 1941 AUSTRALIAN HOWARD AUTO CULTIVATOR NO.2 MK1 DA REVOLVER; 38S&W, in excellent overall condition; exc. cond bore; 125mm (5") barrel; 95% original black-blue finish remains; "During WW2 and Australian company in Northmead, Sydney, Australia retooled their factory to manufacture small arms. During WW2 this farm machinery company produced parts for the Owen, Sten gun, and also this British based Enfield No.2 pistol, the Howard Auto Cultivator (HAC) Mk 1 pistol", with less than 350 units ever made; crisp "HAC" logo stamped on the rhs frame over "No2 N Mk1**" over "1941"; Australian military D^D stamp to rhs of frame show issuing to the Australian army; correct original brown Bakelite grooved grips with brass disc on rhs; lanyard ring to bottom of grips. exc.wo & exc used overall condition. An ultra-rare early serial number '30' Australian HAC pistol. C.1941 #30. Pre-47 Licence Required.
No more than 350 revolvers were made, making them rare and valuable collector's pieces now; though at the time of manufacture they were criticised for being non-interchangeable, even with other HAC-produced revolvers. Est. $3,800 - $4,800.
