After WWII the Soviet Union shared much of its weapons technology with its satellite countries, including the Mosin rifles and carbines.
Hungarian M44 carbines are now showing up occasionally in the UK, but the Hungarian M91/30 is not that common.

There are two versions, the M91/30 PU sniper and the standard M91/30.
The Hungarian M91/30 follows the same basic pattern as the Soviet M91/30 with few differences. The barrel shank markings are “02”, which is the country code for Hungary, the date, the Hungarian crest, and the serial number.

Hungarians production of the standard M91/30 rifle was undertaken at FEG in Budapest. Production only ran for a couple of years

These Mosins will be marked with a 02 on the barrel shank and also have the Hungarian crest.
The 02 is the Eastern Bloc country code for Hungary and the crest is a star & hammer.

The stocks of these rifles will have a 02 and a B (Budapest Arsenal ) marking in almost every case.
The various small parts will also bear Hungarian markings with the 02 proofs commonly encountered on the bolt parts.

The dates are in the early 1950s and began before M44 production in Hungary.

All matching Numbers the rifle and bore are in excellent condition 10/10!

The Hungarian examples are interesting parts of Cold War history & deserve a space in any Mosin Nagant collection.
