This Mosin-Nagant is an old war horse and has seen it all. Following the markings, this rifle was built in 1914 in the Izhevsk factory and has a matching bolt and cleaning rod. This rifle still retains the rare as hens teeth finger rest on a walnut stock with 1893 roundel marking clearly visible (possibly early Chatellerault?) and also has a sling swivel on magazine, another rare early feature. The stock comb has a W marking on comb indicating possible Austro-Hungarian capture in WW1. The original sling swivel holes have been plugged and at some point has the conventional though stock sling positions added. After the war it was sold off to the finish as per the SA markings on the barrel. The rifle was more than likely counterbored by the Finish to fight through WW2 and finally wound up here in Australia. It comes with an original leather sling. The rifle has good bluing, rifling and smoothly cycles with solid lockup. Small cross carved on LHS of stock , not sure if its a battle scar or trench art. All serial numbers and markings are clear. This is a very rare and complete setup—perfect for collectors into Russian military history and having a collectors piece which shows it all. Not something that comes up often.
