Australia is currently being heavily targeted by a new scam, where scammers are able to gain access to your email address after opening an infected PDF email attachment.
This issue is not specific to Usedguns, and is affecting all industries across the country.
This scam will not be detected by any virus software, as it does not infect devices; it only compromises email access.
What is the scam: After the victim opens a PDF file, scammers gain access to the users email account where they are able to setup email redirects to their own email addresses, allowing them to filter specific incoming emails for enquiries or other potential scam options.
What is the fix: We STRONGLY advise any of our users that are suspicious of their email, or may have recently opened a PDF (From a Usedguns enquiry, or any other external source) to change their email passwords, and sign all active devices out of their email (a security setting within all email providers that forces all devices to re-login)
