REVOLVER: 44 cal; 6 shot fluted cylinder; 7” (179mm) barrel with g. bore, sharp rifling with some patchy oxidation scale & frosting in areas; retains over 60% nickel plated finish to metalwork, patchy appearance; some minor handling marks to metalwork overall; top of barrel marked MERWIN HULBERT & Co followed by NEW YORK address, patents; lhs of barrel marked THE HOPKINS & ALLEN Manufacturing Co. Norwich. Conn. U.S.A.; mechanically exc., cylinder indexing correctly, strong springs & sears; rotating barrel assembly locks up tight, slides smoothly along axis pin; screw heads in g. cond.; integral pinched front blade sight to barrel, v. notch sight to top of frame; hard rubber grips are in vg. cond, swirly black & red colouring; hemi lanyard swivel to butt; comes with period fitted leather holster, holster well-worn but complete; overall in exc. wo & g. cond. #2708 Pre 1900. These guns are mechanically like Swiss clocks.. Company went broke because quality was so good no-one could afford to buy them !!
