PERCUSSION REVOLVER: 44 cal; 6 shot cylinder; 7 1/2” (191mm) octagonal barrel with g. bore, strong rifling throughout, some spotted oxidation scale towards muzzle; blued finish has developed a smoky grey mottled appearance, some patches of v. fine surface pitting to frame & barrel; top strap marked C.S. PETTENGILLS PATENT 1856 to rhs RAYMOND & ROBITAILLE PATENTED 1858 to lhs of sight groove; WW stamped to lhs of frame & barrel, to cylinder & singular W to lading leaver; small vice mark bite to cylinder, moderate peening & handling marks to underside of loading lever & front of frame; loading lever finely & partially cracked around latch; action working well, indexing fine with strong trigger pull; screw heads in f. cond.; serial no. 3222 stamped to bottom of butt of back strap & cylinder; smooth walnut grip panels present well, subtle filled repair to rh grip, lh grip bearing a faint inspectors cartouche to bottom, handling marks to both grips; German silver screw escutcheons to centre of grips; overall in vg. wo & g. cond. S/N 3222 Pre 1900
