This unique rifle was manufactured in 1895 by BSA and appears to be one of the few military spec rifles that was released for sale to the public. It is clearly marked " Lee Speed Patents BSA Co" on the ID band, Rigby patent above the bayonet boss and Deeley's patent number on the bolthead. According to Ian Skennertons book, despite the rifles being the same, these markings were not present on the rifles supplied under the military contracts. This rifle has matching numbers on the bolt and receiver and has also has had a replacement Lithgow barrel fitted. The barrel is dated 1920 and the bore is excellent. The rifle is also fitted with fully functional original volley sights in addition to the standard sights.
