Comment: Rare for Australia, Brazilian M968 in very good condition and includes bayonet and original leather sling. These are a variant of the earlier 1908 DWM Brazilian Mauser rifle; it is lighter in weight with a shorter barrel, curved bolt, and larger cartridge, after Brazil adopted the FN FAL. They have barrel-style peep sights and a grenade launcher and flash hider, similar to the FAL. This is one of only three I know of in the country. While the timber stock, being from the earlier model rifle, shows its age, it is not damaged. The parkerised finish on the action is really strong and if you want to run it as a competition rifle you may want to polish it up. Easy to feed and shoot in 308, it is perfect for the service rifle shooter or collector. 155gr handloads to match the performance of standard NATO rounds of the time shoot excellent and match the sights, while heavier 168gr loads are good for long range. Being adopted in the 1960s, these are one of the most modern bolt-action service rifles produced. A really interesting piece.
