Comment: Brand new, still with original packing grease on it. Naturally, all the numbers match. Marked US Property. This Savage came from a deceased estate via the police, who took possession after the death of the original owner, a WWII veteran who’d kept a small collection of WWII rifles. It was unpacked and wiped down by the police to take its details before being stored then coming to us. We have left the grease and packing residue in place, partly for provenance and partly to keep it in the best condition possible. We cleaned up another rifle from the batch which came up brilliantly. This No 4 has very minor handling marks from the police but it has barely seen the light of day since being packed in grease after manufacture. It has never been fired.
